Turning Students into Leaders
According to Wikipedia, Mojo is a metaphorical reference to possessing a “magic touch” of creativity or charm. It’s the muse inside ourselves that gives us the inspiration, aspiration and courage to make our dreams come to life. Of course, Mojo is different for everyone. Artists, politicians, scientists, athletes and business leaders throughout the decades from Picasso to Dr. Martin Luther King to Elvis Presley to President Barack Obama to LeBrown James to Mark Zuckerberg, used their mojo to change the world with their vision and voice. I want to change the world, one student at a time.
My name is Travis Brown and I am a mojo maker. My mission…my passion…my mojo, is to give the youth of today the confidence, conviction, and attitude to become leaders in their schools today while developing the tools they’ll need to become the future leaders of tomorrow.
However, life-long mojo habits do not occur overnight, or with one motivational speaking engagement. The mojo message is an integrated one, involving all influencers of the student’s life, including their principle, teachers, coaches and parent(s). It is a message of hope and empowerment. It is a message of destiny and success. It is a message of leadership.

Turning Philosophy into Reality
Headquartered in Lafayette Indiana, Operation Mojo is a comprehensive and integrated program that takes the principles presented during the motivational speaking engagement and puts them into action….by everyone in the student’s life, including principals, teachers, coaches, parents, and especially the student.
Operation Mojo helps school administrators and principals affect positive change throughout the school, including administrative staff and the student body; teachers are offered ongoing reinforcement tools in educating students about the importance of thinking like a leader, coaches are provided with a continuation of the Mojo agenda that will heighten the student’s ability to perform both on and off the field; and as the front line of defense, parent(s) will have the support mechanism in place to assure the Mojo ideals are followed at the home, as well as the school. Most importantly, through Mojo Club, the students will be part of an ongoing outreach program that provides motivation and reinforcement through virtual and actual training and leadership programs designed to help them carry the Mojo philosophy through their college years and beyond to adulthood.

Turning on the Mojo at the Top
Principals are in a position of great influence; from the student body to the teaching and coaching staff to parents, the principal sets the tone both in and out of the school. Demonstrated leadership is paramount in defining and developing strong student leaders. As the ultimate “Mojo Maker” the principal has the opportunity to lead by example, as students often learn best by observing the qualities of those leaders that surround them.
Travis Brown offers programs to arm the school Principal with an arsenal of tools designed to drive home the mojo message while providing insightful leadership techniques. Programs include information on managing difficult people and what strategies to employ when dealing with conflict; information on how to lead Generation “Y”, understanding the most important levels of successful leadership and how to best lead the entire school through change.

Turning on the Mojo in the Classroom
As the front line of defense, the teacher resides in the day-to-day trenches with the student body and their parents. Communication and understanding are two critically important attributes the teacher must embrace in the ongoing effort of building trust with the student. The Travis Brown mojo message helps the teacher better communicate within the “teen universe’. This is especially important as every 26 seconds another student gives up on school, resulting in more than 1.2 million students dropping out of high school every year. The teacher is in a position of real influence and may have a direct impact on the success of the student.
In addition, teacher/parent(s) collaboration is critical in providing a message of singular vision in helping to develop productive and successful student leaders. The mojo message helps the teacher fine tune the art of parent collaboration.

Coaches…Turning on the Mojo on the Field
Player recruitment, competition between schools, pressure to achieve top regional, state or national rankings, difficult parents, unyielding school administrators, reduced funding, job security, disruptive fans, and prima donna attitudes by top athletes are enough to put a stranglehold on the most stalwart of coaches.
An athletic forum is arguably the most powerful and literal way for the mojo message to be realized. The coach has a rare opportunity to help student athletes personify the mojo principles for success on and off the playing field.
Equally important, the mojo message equips the coach and their staff with the tools necessary to understand and communicate effectively with difficult people – at all levels – and in the most extreme situations. Let Travis Brown show the coach how to effectively manage school administrators, teachers, fellow coaches, parents, and especially the student.

Parents...Turning on the Mojo at Home
The mojo message for parent(s) offers empowering strategies used to better understand, communicate and relate to their children, and help them to excel in high school, college and beyond. Through a riveting Evening Parent Discussion, Travis Brown brings together parents, students and teachers to understand the tough choices that students face every day.
Parents will discover ways to start up difficult conversations with their kids; and learn the danger signs that their teenager is in trouble and needs their help; or how to communicate to their child that the choices they make today could very well impact them for the rest of their lives.
Parents face challenges today that were unheard of even ten years ago. Sobering statistics like the fact that 19.1% of 8th graders and 42.3% of 12th graders reported using drugs; or that 17% of high school students have seriously thought about suicide, and 13% had made plans to attempt suicide; keep the parent awake at night out of fear and concern.
